Director, Margie Elsberg, is a twenty-five year veteran of the Washington press corp, including being a reporter & assistant city editor at the Scripps Howard newspaper, Washington Daily News, city editor of the Prince George’s Journal, and at Channel 9. In 1990 started her own firm in media relations, Elsberg Associates. A graduate of Boston University’s School of Communications.
Director & Vice-President Thomas B. Metzloff, professor of law at Duke University’s School of Law. He earned his BA from Yale College in 1976 and his JD from Harvard Law School in 1979. He teaches civil procedure, ethics, and dispute resolution. Professor Metzloff is also director of the Voices of American Law project.
Interim President & Treasurer, Michael Thielke is the executive director of the Eastern Shore Entrepreneurship Center (ESEC) which supports start up companies and innovation projects on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Prior to ESEC, he was president of the Sultana Projects, Inc, based in Chestertown MD. He is committed to six hours per month of Board activity and oversight of the Community Newspaper Project’s future expansion of CNP projects in Caroline, Dorchester and Queen Anne’s County.
Director & Secretary is Dave Wheelan. Over the last thirty years, Dave has worked in the fields of communications, institutional development, and strategic planning with the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Foundation, Washington College, The Nature Conservancy, Trust for Public Land, and the University of California, Berkeley. He founded Spy Publications in 2009, (run as a sole proprietorship) which created the Chestertown Spy (2009), the Talbot Spy (2011), the Queen Anne’s Spy (2012), and the Ketchum Keystone (2013). He founded the Community Newspaper Project in 2014.
